Having no where to go,

For the longest time it seemed as if no one could really talk about suicide, or at least it seems that way in my family. About four years ago my uncle committed suicide, the news was shocking to everyone. For the longest time my uncle had hid his secret about being gay from the world, but he was still picked on for not ever having women over, or things in that manner. Although my family didn't let me see the note I know he felt as if he were in a one man Army.

No one should ever feel as if no body is listening. AFSP has programs such as the interactive screening program, that reaches out to students on the web encouraging them

  1. I really like how personal this cause is to you because I think that when a cause is close to the heart you are more propelled to help out and not half-heart what you are doing. I also think that this is an awesome cause to address because it is a problem in our lives that most of the time goes unnoticed. I believe that more people today decide to hide their feelings and this becomes a problem when life gets to be too much. Researching and informing people that there is places where you can get help and letting them know that they are not alone is this world is the first step.

  2. I agree with Megan that I'm happy you picked a cause so close to home because your paper is going to turn out awesome. It always helps when you have a serious opinion about something because your paper will be filled with stories about your life and personal things that truly matter to you. You should use something like this as an introduction, too! Just like how we wrote a narrative as an introduction the other day, this would give your paper an extra spice. And as hard as it may be, you should try to talk about your uncle. It may hurt or reopen old scars, but it is something that you are passionate about stopping so you should go (excuse the expression) balls to the wall with this one.

  3. That's actually a kick ass idea Gina, thanks! Yeah, I figured this topic will be best to write about right now because the wounds are still pretty fresh.
